Dr. Katherine Martinez

 Dr. Katherine Martinez (she/her/hers) is a registered psychologist (2036) in British Columbia with 25 years of experience in clinical work, research, and training.  Dr. Martinez was on staff at the Vancouver Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Centre from 2012-2018, and, was a partner at The San Francisco Bay Area Center for Cognitive Therapy from 2004-2009. She has also worked at Children’s Hospital Oakland, California, and various clinics in New Jersey.  Dr. Martinez specializes in cognitive-behavioural assessment and treatment of anxiety, mood, and childhood disorders in youth, provides parent training to families, and conducts workshops and in-service trainings on CBT. She has a long history of working with neuro-diverse clients and is passionate about equity and neuro-affirming care. Finally, she has co-authored the books, Your anxious mind: A teen’s guide to anxiety and panic (Magination Press, 2009) and Getting Comfortable with Uncertainty for Teens (New Harbinger 2022). When she's not involved in professional activities, Katherine is a wife, mother, and member of her local BC Ground Search and Rescue. She loves the outdoors, playing with her dogs and cats, travelling, and volunteering at her sons's high school and in her local community where she is passionate about social justice and anti-oppression work. She also mentors Indigenous women in healthcare and volunteers for Mother's Against Racism.
