Yuval Alter Completed his B.A. in Psychology at Reichman University in 2020. He conducted
research on the cognitive impacts of aging in relation to spatial awareness and response rates. Mr. Alter is currently in his fourth year in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program at Adler University. His current thesis examines the relationship between time spent playing different types of video games and an individual’s quality of relationships. Mr. Alter has practical experience in assessment and treatment, working with youth, young adults, and older adults, in college clinics, outreach programs in hospitals, middle schools, high schools, and community centers. He has completed a 1-year assessment practicum at Adler Community Health Services (ACHS) and its associated sites, and a 1-year therapy practicum at the Chilliwack Youth Health Center (CYHC). Mr. Alter has experience working with adolescents (ages 12-18), young adults (18-26), and older adults (over 26) experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties, including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, ADHD, depression, trauma responses, and suicidality, as well as severe struggles with daily living, meeting personal goals, and communicating effectively with others. Yuval believes in a collaborative, encouraging, and hope building approach, that meets the client where they are at. Mr. Alter uses evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Non-Violent Communication (NVC) skills, and mindfulness based techniques. Mr. Alter emphasizes the importance of working together to create goals that are aspirational, but also realistic, to build a foundation of hope and mastery.
